| Our client, an innovative leader in electronic publishing, is seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology at their corporate office located in Sonoma County, CA. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Information Technology will provide product and technology vision, leadership, and operational oversight to the organization in support of varied business areas to include print and electronic publishing, ecommerce, mobile applications, inventory management, data communications, event management, and more. This position will create and maintain strategic plans, policies, programs, and schedules for both software development and systems administration departments to accomplish corporate goals and objectives; direct the information, security, data integrity, and disaster recovery of the company and all business units; and ensure all computer capabilities and network systems are responsive to the needs of the company*s current and growth requirements. This position reports to the COO and is located at their corporate offices in Sonoma County, CA. In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum requirements: * Experience with the development and deployment of SAAS applications * Experience in the management and development of e-commerce and mobile software applications. * Excellent presentation and communication skills in both private and public forums * Proven success in managing software engineering and traditional IT infrastructure organizations * Staff and project management experience with a technology team of 10 or more employees * Supervision experience of a comprehensive technology organization composed of software engineering, networking, help desk and business applications disciplines in an open systems (linux) friendly environment is critical. * Four-year college degree in computer science, business management, or related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience * 5+ years experience in budgeting and financial decision-making as related to technology services and development POSITION REQUIREMENTS: * Strategic vision and definition of product roadmaps with overall focus on organizational goals, customer needs, and product leadership in the market * Overall management of product and technology deliverables that support each product roadmap * Primary responsibility for department budget creation, maintenance, and reconciliation * Primary responsibility for department personnel management; division of labor and integration between software developers and systems administrators; coordination of rotating on-call status employees for 24/7 response; recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of employees in a performance-based culture * Evaluate overall operations of computing and information technology functions and recommend enhancements * Advise senior management on strategic systems conversions and integrations in support of business goals and objectives * Prepare enterprise objectives, including consistent operational upgrades, and associated budgets to facilitate the orderly and efficient capture, storage, processing, and dissemination of information * Interact with company managers on internal and external operations that are impacted by the capture, storage, processing and dissemination of information * Review and approve major contracts for computing and information technology services and equipment * Overall management of technology-related functions within the organization (infrastructure, security, telecommunications, data communications, disaster recovery, workstation and server admin/support, applications, software development, and all business unit and/or product related assignments) * Top-level problem-solving responsibilities independent of and dependent on inter-department influences * Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the company * Assess new computing technologies to determine potential value for the company * Management and oversight of all outsourced vendors in relationship to infrastructure, product development, technology development, and customer service functions * Coordinate product development activities with Online Marketing, Digital Distribution, Publishing Services, Distribution/Operations, Conferences, FOO, Radar, Design, PR, and Sales functions inside and outside the organization * Leverage external relationships (e.g. salesforce.com, Oracle, Market Live, etc.) to benefit increased traffic and exposure for the company*s products * Utilize leadership, coaching, and mentoring to effect collaborative intra- and inter-department communications in response to workflow, process and priority-setting structures, and company goals and objectives * Serve on planning, compliance, and policy-making committees Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Advanced knowledge in strategic business and budget management within a shared services technical function * Advanced knowledge of legacy, current, and emerging technologies in a software development and network systems environment * Advanced knowledge of a minimum of three programming languages in support of staff supervision * Strong working knowledge of ecommerce, electronic publishing, and mobile applications * Excellent consultation, negotiation, and analysis skills * Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills * Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills * Ability to think strategically and tactically within a technology-related environment * Ability to manage large-scale technology projects, infrastructure, and maintenance * Ability to manage outsourced services from negotiation through implementation * Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings to productive outcomes Interested?
